Kavlon Coloring Book

KCB was featured in the July issue of Linux Journal Magazine!

A simple coloring (or colouring) book program written in Python w/ Pygame. It should work with little modification on any platform that supports these. This is a coloring book in the classic sense. The user can choose from pages in the coloring book by flipping the pages. Once a picture is selected it may be colored by chosing a drawing color and clicking the region of the page that we wish to fill in. The design has been kept simple so that the coloring book is easy to use by kids and adults alike.

The coloring book has been tested on RedHat Linux, Debian Linux, SuSE Linux, Mandrake Linux, Solaris, Mac OS, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP but should work on any OS that supports Python and SDL. If you have trouble getting the coloring book running on your platform please ask me for help. This program is licensed under the GPL and is free for all use. You may use it, at no charge, for your own enjoyment, for your children, or in a classroom.

Help us add new pictures to the coloring book. Vote for Kavlon Coloring Book on Linux Fund! Or, if you have some talent at drawing, contribute your own pages to be added to the coloring book. Child appropiate pictures of an educational theme are most useful but all original pictures are welcome.

A big thanks to Illiad of UserFriendly for donating artwork to the coloring book. Look for his artwork coming in an update soon. Every UFie should be a coloring book fan! :)

Work in progress

Kavlon Coloring Book is just a start. We hope to be providing more great, free, edutainment software in the future. If you have any suggestions on what programs would be most useful then let me know. We're targeting young kids of the toddler, preschool, or kindergarten age groups but we're open to any suggestions.
